I'm finally there.
As usual I couldn't sleep on the flight so I arrived feeling a bit like a zombie. I arrived in the afternoon so I forced myself to go for a walk before going to bed. I probably should have checked a map first because I ended up walking 8 kms through Union Square, The Embarcadero, and Fisherman's Wharf.
This morning was more of the same. I got set up with an American phone plan ($50 a month was the cheapest I could find!) and got an activity pass that includes free public transport for the next week. I visited the Exploratorium museum which was pretty cool but was full of screaming children.
San Francisco is a lot grittier than I remember it. It is beautiful but at the same time it's a lot dirtier and smellier than what I'm used to. Even though I was expecting it it's still a shock seeing how many homeless people there are. I've only been here two days and I've already seen hundreds.
The search for a car begins tomorrow.
